Hollywood and Brazilian Movie Stars to Attend the 1st Annual Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival Opening Night Celebration
The 3 day Film Fest will take place on January 27 -29, 2009 in Hollywood, California. The opening night festivities include a red carpet and a tribute celebration to Brazil folklore roots.
(January 21, 2009 - Hollywood, CA) – The Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival (HBR FEST) 2009’s groundbreaking three-day event will screen selected feature and short films by leading Brazilian filmmakers. The 1st annual film fest will take place in the heart of Hollywood, California at the Egyptian Theater and Mann Chinese 6 Cinemas.
HBR FEST is the first Hollywood-based film festival dedicated to addressing the cultural and commercial exchange between Hollywood, the World Film Industry and the Brazilian Film Community. “Movies are a work of team, inside and outside of the screens. Festivals such as these are the door of our films to the world” said Brazilian actress Alice Braga (I am Legend). “International film distributors will have first hand opportunity to view the best of Brazilian film production and co-production and we are proud of forging that opportunity” said Talize Sayegh, founder of the Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival.
HBR FEST officially kicks off Tuesday, January 27th with an Opening Celebration at the Egyptian Theater with the U.S. Premiere of “Romance” with Wagner Moura, one of the most acclaimed Brazilian actors of our time. Moura appeared in “Lower City” and “Elite Squad” (Best Film Winner at the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival). The night’s event will feature a star-studded red carpet and a fun celebration highlighting Brazil folkloric roots.
The festival continues on Wednesday, January 28th with the romantic comedy “Entre Lençóis” staring Reynaldo Gianecchini, one of Latin-American’s most popular sex symbols. Reynaldo is the leading actor in Telemundo’s telenovela: “El Color del Pecado”.
Thursday, January 29th Closing Gala features the West Coast Premiere of “Carmo, Hit the Road”, the only Spanish/Brazilian co-production film presented in the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.
HBR FEST will showcase a total of 8 films with a variety of productions ranging from music influenced films, action, romance, dramas and a documentary. The Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival is proud to announce the following premiering films at its 1st edition (in order of programs):
